OPENING: The extremely popular story of how it is to be Generation-Z – and royal
Young Royals is a Swedish coming-of-age series that tells the story of a member of the royal family through life of a young man searching for his identity. The story centers around the young Swedish Prince Wilhelm, played by Edving Ryding, who, like many other royals before him, becomes a living dichotomy when challenged with the idea of who he wants to be and who he should be.
When he arrives at the prestigious boarding school Hillerska, he finally gets an opportunity to explore his true self and find out what kind of life he would like to live.
His aspirations leads away from a life defined by royal obligations and he starts to dream about a future of freedom and unconditional love.
However, when Wilhelm unexpectedly becomes next in line for the throne, his own dilemma is heightened as he has to make a choice. Love or duty.
Like The Crown, Netflix once again presents a narrative that explores the human being behind the royalty, but in contrast to the much acclaimed Crown series, Young Royals focuses on the now – by putting the young generation of today in the spotlight.
Meet lead actor playing Wilhelm, Edvin Ryding, Creator and Head Writer Lisa Ambjörn and debuting Conceptual Director Rojda Sekersöz at the opening event of AARHUS SERIES when they will discuss Young Royals and how the otherwise often unknown story of royal people is also a way to give voice to the generation of today and their struggles to find a place in this world.
