Filmby Aarhus is the centre for film and media production in Jutland. 80 companies and hundreds of creative heads work side by side. The aim is to boost the development of media and to highlight the city’s cultural forces through film and media production.
Filmby Aarhus is placed in raw and industrial surroundings on the South Harbour. The South Harbour with its harbour area and old meatpacking district is still a diamond in the rough with lots of young and creative energy continually moving in.

ØST FOR PARADIS
The iconic Aarhus cinema was founded in 1978 for the primary purpose of showing movies that didn’t find their way to the other cinemas in Aarhus. That’s still the case.

Aarhus Theatre was built in the 1890s at the initiative of the citizens of Aarhus. The building is an architectonic gem of the Jugend style. It was inaugurated on September 15th in 1900 and became a listed landmark in 1990.
The theatre has kept is original grandeur as a cultural powerhouse in the secondlargest city of Denmark. It contains 4 stages with a total capacity of 1200 seats.

THE CATHEDRAL OF AARHUS
The beautiful Cathedral of Aarhus is placed right in the center of town. With a length of 93 metres Aarhus Cathedral is the longest church in Denmark.
The building of Aarhus Cathedral was started in the last decades of the 12th Century. The Cathedral – a magnificent Romanesque basilica – was a gigantic project, not finished until the 1300.

Dokk1 was designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects and is part of the conversion of Aarhus inner harbour from industrial harbour to city space.
At Dokk1 you will find find media, a café, project rooms, halls, study cells, playground and much more.

Godsbanen is 10.500 M² of Culture. The Cultural Production Center Godsbanen opened in 2012 in the buildings of an old freight train station. It is a creative powerhouse in the new city district of Aarhus; Aarhus K.

Kunsthal Aarhus is a contemporary art centre located at the centre of the city of Aarhus, Denmark, established in 1917.
With its founding mission to “inspire and promote a general knowledge of the fine arts,“ it was received with great enthusiasm by the public and has since played a central role in developing and presenting international contemporary art in Denmark.

Musikhuset Aarhus (the Concert Hall) is one of Denmark’s most popular cultural centres as well as the largest Concert Hall in Scandinavia. The Concert Hall was inaugurated in 1982 and designed by the Aarhus architects Kjær & Richter.
Live performances is the center of attention, when the Concert Hall every year enrich, excite and inspire up to a million guests.

Jyllands-Posten (The Jutland Post) is placed near dock 3 at the harbor of Aarhus. The new media house is drawn by Henning Larsen Architects and was ready for occupation in February 2020.
The building has five floors and contains offices, an auditorium, and a top floor canteen with an outdoor terrace. The architecture is characterized by an openness across different floors, and the vision is that both the modernity and the functionality of the new building will reflect in the development of the paper.
